The motorcycle gods invoked karma on this Honda. Lesson to be learned? Stupid will cost you, don't park in motorbike spots

That's how far the tail sticks out when a 4 door civic parks in motorcycle reserved location, it says so right under the rear tires in the photo below

Why doesn't El Cajon have a "Jimmie Johnson Street"?

Is there something wrong with the El Cajon town council, do they have no pride in a native son?

One that is a household name for his achievements in NASCAR while ranked first (season champion) for 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009? You may not know that Jimmie is the only driver that has ever accomplished this, in all of NASCAR history.

One that reinvested in his home town with a Chevrolet dealership, and has been invited to the White House, has a charity foundation that helps the American Red Cross, Habitat for Humanity, and Make a Wish... and so on. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jimmie_Johnson

Want to do something about it? Monday March 22nd at 7pm the planning commission will be having a meeting... lets crash it. I'm planning on being there... this I gotta see and hear!

Points to mention:
- Agree with El Cajon City Council’s decision to honor JJ with “ Jimmie Johnson Avenue .” (Approved by Council on January 26, 2010).
- Fitting tribute for ON track accomplishments, (i.e. 4-Time NASCAR Champion, Future Hall of Famer, etc.).
- Most importantly, OFF track accomplishments - a true humanitarian who continues to support his hometown.

Thank You again,
Go Jimmie (Johnson Ave.) Go !!!

Tom McGrath from Alpine opinioned that East County road naming is best left alone and chided Union Tribune readers to keep our noses out of it, and stick with North County issues. Boo and hiss to you Tom. 4th story down http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/mar/13/oceanside-rejects-saving-1-million/

this reader had it right http://www.signonsandiego.com/news/2010/feb/25/jimmie-johnson-way/

Is there a city in the South that doesn't have a street named after a stock car racer? Isn't this country founded with ideals of naming locations after important contributors to civic pride? Washington DC, Washington state, Pennsylnavia state, Boone county, Crockett County, and there almost was a state named Franklin... but that is a real history lesson. We even have states named after European royalty... why? Why not rename a state for a hero? Well, if that is too much, then I guess renaming a street for a NASCAR champion is good enough for me.

NYPD detectives parking illegally, and getting towed!

Dozens of detectives say they have had their department cars towed — by their own department.

On at least 35 occasions, have walked outside to find their cars hooked by a special detail of the Internal Affairs Bureau that hunts for illegally parked cop cars.

Comments in this news article point out that the cops took overtime pay to get the cars out of the tow yard. Further endearing is that the city cars, were being locked up... by... the city. So, stupidity abounds, NYPD cops are hypocrites and not aware of the oath of office they swore (and that pisses me off) and then complained about Internal Affairs busting them for being parking a-holes. Int he word of the great Walter Matthau "Putz!"

But when their former leader New York City police commissioner Kerik just plead guilty to no less that 8 Ferderal Felony Charges, what can you expect of leaderless NYPD? That their integrity would be scupulous? http://topics.nytimes.com/top/reference/timestopics/people/k/bernard_b_kerik/index.html?inline=nyt-per

not that I'm on a roll, but everywhere you look at New York news the cops are hypocrits and worse http://queenscrap.blogspot.com/2010/03/another-cop-claims-he-was-pressured-to.html

You see they sit at the connection from the 8 East

1937 Hudson Terraplane, without the body, still resting in peace since the late 60's early 70's

images via Garage Journal member BB767 (Thomas) http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51567&page=4 but if you think the Terraplane that the tree osmosised with is far out, look at page one of the thread an see how Thomas keep after and restored a 5 acre piece of land with a 1930's mechanics garage that included a pre 1935 "Rotary" brand car lift, a Pepsi machine, 35 ton floor press, 48 tons of junk scrap steel and 278 varous tires, a 57 chev with title but totally clapped out, two tractors an IH and a Case, NOS auto parts from the 40's, 50's and 60's and maybe best of all, a few flat head engines and a a Sun Engine Analyzer

built in the late 1930's and used by a father as a blacksmith/welding shop and later in the 50's one of his sons did automotive repair there until his death in the mid 1970's. The father carried on until his retirement in the 1980's.The shop was then was slowly under used and finally abandoned. http://www.garagejournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=51567

The above 46-49 Jeep work truck for the shop that this terraplane became a permanent fixture of. Work trucks (real ones) beng rarely photographed, and who ever heard of a Jeep work truck? I had to post it.

Hemi Bee, so what if it ididn't come from the factory this way... they didn't make them this cool

I'm still trying to get a photo of this hood ornament that can compare to the great one Tere took 2 years ago

The above are obviously setting the bar really far above what I've done since,
Tere is still kicking my butt at hood ornament shots
below are the examples of my tries to see if I could get a truly great shot of that same hood ornament... the immediate below I took at the Tmec Rod Run

The below were taken at the Poway Transmission show

The below are from Del Mar good guys

Kinda strange to keep trying to match how cool Tere's photos of it turned out, but everyone needs something that challenges them to try harder. Maybe the top two turned out so well because we worked together on them, teamwork you know.

the military discount that only worked if you were stationed over seas... 1969 ad about Fords you had to buy through the Base Exchange to get the sale

I did 10 years in the Navy, and a discount for military because of what they do, and how little they get paid, is near to my heart... but the whole business of only giving that to people who are stationed overseas, and denying it to those stuck stateside pisses me off. I'm total equal rights, one for all-all for one. To discriminate or be discriminated against torques me. Way uncool.
